Hydraulic Shearing Machine Manufacturer
Variable rake angle hydraulic guillotine shears for clean, square blanks: 37 models from 2 mm to 25 mm and 1500 mm to 4000 mm.

Hydraulic shearing machine with variable rake angle
A hydraulic shearing machine cuts sheet and plate in a straight line between an upper and a lower blade. It is usually the first machine in a fabrication line, producing the blanks that go on to the press brake, punching or welding. Clean, square blanks make every later step easier.
Devraj Engineering's DHSM series is a hydraulic guillotine shear with variable rake angle. The rake angle is the slope of the upper blade. A low angle gives a straighter, less twisted strip; a higher angle reduces the force needed on thick plate. Being able to adjust it lets one machine cut a wide range of thicknesses with less distortion and longer blade life. A precision motorised back gauge positions the sheet quickly and repeatably.
As a hydraulic shearing machine manufacturer and sheet metal shearing machine manufacturer in Ahmedabad, we offer 37 standard models from 2 mm to 25 mm capacity and 1500 mm to 4000 mm cutting length.

Specifications are taken from Devraj's published DHSM table. A few values in that table are being re-confirmed and are shown as "On request". Capacities are for mild steel with a tensile strength around 450 N/mm²; stainless steel figures are shown separately. Final data is confirmed in the quotation.
How a hydraulic guillotine shear works
- The sheet is placed on the table and pushed against the back gauge, which sets the cut width.
- Hold-down cylinders clamp the sheet so it cannot move or lift during the cut.
- The upper blade descends at the set rake angle and shears the sheet against the fixed lower blade.
- The beam returns, the hold-downs release and the cut piece drops at the back of the machine.
Blade clearance must suit the material and thickness. Too little clearance causes blade wear; too much causes burrs and a rolled edge.

Features
- Variable rake angle adjustment to match thickness and reduce distortion.
- Stress-relieved, heavy-duty frame to keep the cut square and limit deflection.
- Hardened, high-quality blades for long life and clean, burr-free edges.
- Motorised back gauge for fast, accurate sheet positioning.
- PLC control options for guillotine and hydraulic shears.
- User-friendly controls and safety guards to protect operators.
Materials and capacity
DHSM machines cut mild steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminium, brass and copper. Stainless steel needs more force, so its capacity is lower: for example, the DHSM-625 cuts 6 mm mild steel nominal but 4 mm stainless steel nominal.
Buy a hydraulic shearing machine: what to check
- Cutting length: choose a length above your widest sheet. Common sheet sizes in India are 1250 mm and 1500 mm wide and 2500 mm long, so 2500 mm and 3000 mm shears are popular.
- Thickness: buy for the thickest plate you cut regularly, not the rare exception.
- Material: check the stainless steel capacity if you cut SS.
- Back gauge travel and accuracy for your blank sizes.
- Blade quality and the ease of adjusting blade clearance.

Industries
Hydraulic shears are used across metal fabrication, automotive, construction, shipbuilding, power plant and heavy engineering work.
Frequently asked questions
What is a hydraulic shearing machine?
An industrial cutting machine that uses hydraulic pressure to drive an upper blade past a fixed lower blade, cutting steel plate, sheet and strip in a straight line.
What maximum thickness can your shearing machines cut?
The largest DHSM models cut 20 mm mild steel nominal and 25 mm maximum, over 2000 to 4000 mm.
Why is variable rake angle useful?
A lower rake angle reduces twist and bow on narrow strips; a higher angle reduces cutting force on thick plate. Adjusting it lets one machine handle a wider range of work.
Is a hydraulic shear better than a mechanical shear?
Hydraulic shears run more smoothly, are easier to control, include overload protection and give more consistent cuts, which makes them safer and more versatile than mechanical shears.
Can it run continuously?
Yes. The DHSM series is designed for continuous heavy-duty use in fabrication shops and factories.
