Press Brakes for Electrical Panel and Enclosure Manufacturing
Repeatable bending for doors, enclosure bodies, mounting plates and cable trays.
Bending for electrical panels and enclosures
Control panels, distribution boards, MCC and PCC panels, junction boxes and electronic enclosures are almost entirely made from bent sheet. Most of the work is 1.2 to 2 mm CRCA, with stainless steel and aluminium for outdoor or special-duty enclosures. Parts are relatively short, but there are many of them, each with several bends, and the fit between doors, frames and covers depends on consistent angles and flange lengths.
Typical parts
- Panel doors with return flanges and hemmed edges
- Enclosure bodies (U-shapes) and back covers
- Mounting plates, gland plates and partitions
- Frame members and channel sections
- Cable trays and trunking
What matters in panel manufacturing
Repeatability
A door that is half a degree off will not sit flush with its frame. Programmable control, either PLC/NC or CNC, holds angles from part to part and batch to batch.
Box bending
Doors and enclosure bodies need deep return flanges. Look for enough open height and stroke, and use gooseneck or segmented punches so earlier flanges clear the tooling.
Surface finish
Pre-coated or stainless sheet needs clean tooling and, for visible parts, protective film or non-marking dies.
Recommended machines
For 1.2-2 mm panel work up to 2000 mm long, a 40 T machine is usually sufficient. Panel makers bending full-height doors and side sheets (2200-2500 mm) generally choose an 80 T CNC press brake with 2500 mm working length. Our PBR 420 suits smaller shops starting out.
Frequently asked questions
What tonnage press brake does a panel manufacturer need?
For 1.2-2 mm CRCA at 2000-2500 mm length, 40-80 T is typical. Use our tonnage calculator to check your thickest door or side sheet.
Can a press brake bend hemmed edges for panel doors?
Yes, with hemming tooling: the flange is first bent to an acute angle and then flattened.
